Arc Alloys supply titanium metal in a variety of forms. We offer welding, fabrication and machining services to create your titanium part requirements from one off unique designs to full supply chain solutions. Manufactured from the highest quality titanium sheet and tubing, we offer a range that includes titanium rods, titanium welding wires, tubing, magnetic titanium, seamless and welded pipe parts, pressure fittings and fasteners. Read on to find out more about the products we offer and the benefits of choosing Arc for your supply.

What is titanium?

Titanium is a metal offering unprecedented strength. It is lightweight, stable and non-corrosive. Titanium is now widely used in the aerospace and transportation industries, as well as for medical, leisure and consumer industry products, including the automotive industry, where titanium has shown significant fuel efficiency over traditional fittings.

Does it come in different grades/strengths?

Pure titanium comes in four different strength grades. Grade 1 offers the softest most formable grade, through to grade 4, which is the strongest, least formable of pure grade titanium.

Are there different types of titanium?

We offer Titanium alloys also, with the same strength and corrosion durability and as lightweight as commercially pure titanium, but also showing the characteristic benefits of the other metals.

What are they and what are they used for?

Grade 5 Ti 6AL-4V titanium alloy is widely used by the aerospace industry to manufacture aircraft turbines and structural components. Titanium alloy is also widely used for high-performance engine parts, sports equipment and biomedical implants.

Grade 7 with palladium to increase welding and formability, is available in most product forms making it commonly used in chemical production equipment.

Grade 12 has strength similar to 300 series steels and is suitable for many fabricated applications including heat exchanges, chemical manufacturing as well as marine and aerospace industries.

Grade 23 Ti 6AL-4V ELI gives a high tensile yield strength, and is used to manufacture coils, strands and wires, which makes it highly suitable for medical and dental applications.

Further alloy grades are available.

Who would use titanium?

The automotive, aerospace, medical and dental industries widely use Titanium. Desalination plants, pulp and paper plants for chlorate bleaching. Flue gas desulfurization (or desulphurisation) and seawater management systems are among other industries benefitting from the use of titanium to operate.

What are the advantages of titanium and why is it so important?
Titanium offers incredibly high tolerance, being twice as strong as aluminium, yet half the weight of steel, perhaps the most important advantage is its ability to maintain the same properties up to 600c.

Arc Alloys Limited offers a large variety of products in Titanium such as tubing, seamless- and welded pipe, butt weld fittings, flanges, pressure fittings and fasteners:

Due to its unprecedented strength, lightness, stable and abundant market and non-corrosive characteristics, titanium has emerged as the metal of choice for aerospace, energy production and transportation, industry and medical, leisure and consumer products, notably golf clubs and bicycle frames. Furthermore, due to its strength and lightness, titanium is currently being tested in the automobile industry, which has found that the use of titanium for connecting rods and moving parts has resulted in significant fuel efficiency.

BENEFITS OF TITANIUM

  • High strength,
  • High resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion resistance.
  • High resistance to stress corrosion cracking, corrosion fatigue and erosion,
  • Cold bending for complex piping bends without fittings or flanges
  • High strength to weight ratio,
  • Weight saving possibilities
  • Low modulus, high fracture toughness and fatigue resistance
  • Suitability for coiling and laying on seabed
  • Ability to withstand hot/dry and cold/wet acid gas loading
  • Excellent resistance to corrosive and erosive action of high-temperature acid steam and brine
  • Good workability and weldability

TITANIUM APPLICATIONS
