Established in 1988, Arc Alloys has over three decades of experience in supplying a comprehensive range of welding consumables to the repair, maintenance and special metal industries.
The fabrication side of the business has grown year on year, and from our base in Brierley Hill, West Midlands, the company has now established itself as one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of pipes, fittings and flanges in most grades of stainless, Duplex, Super Duplex and Nickel Alloys.
How are pipes manufactured?
Welded stainless steel pipes are created by roll forming strips or sheets of stainless steel into a tube shape. The seam is then welded longitudinally. Welded tubing can then be formed through either hot or cold processes. Each method creates a strong steel tube that is durable and resists corrosion.
The seam can either be left beaded, or it can be worked by cold rolling and forging methods. A finer weld seam can create better surface finishes and tighter tolerances. A range of measures is taken to ensure quality control.
Arc Alloys can also supply pipe spools. These are sections of a piping system that is prefabricated as smaller segments with fitting and flanges.
Cost-efficient and versatile
Welded tubing is a cost-efficient form of tubing, with piping that can be manufactured for longer lengths. It has a fast lead time allowing for quick deployment in a wide range of different applications.
Welding piping is used in architectural applications, the automotive industry, food and beverage industry, pharmaceuticals and the marine industry, among others. They are widely used across the construction industry because they are both pliable and sturdy.
Stainless steel can be treated with various elements to improve its corrosion resistance. This extra protection allows for thin pipe walls and a lighter finished product without compromising on its overall resistance.
Because stainless steel isn’t a petroleum-based product it is an environmentally-friendly choice. Once the stainless steel piping has reached the end of its life it can be recycled and reused, reducing its environmental impact further.
Steel is corrosion-resistant so steel piping is long-lasting and therefore cost-effective. Due to their strength, the pipes can be used in areas that are exposed to the elements.
